「the same A as B」は「Bと同じA」という意味になります。

The more I saw her, the more I liked her.
（彼女を見れば見るほど、好きになった。） The more he thought about it, the more depressed he became.
（彼はそのことを考えれば考えるほど彼は落胆した。） The sooner, the better.（早ければ早いほど良いです。） The more, the merrier.（多ければ多いほど楽しい。）
比較級を「and」で結ぶと、「ますます〜」や「だんだん〜」という意味になります。
The plane flew higher and higher.
（飛行機はますます高く飛んだ。）
The world is getting smaller and smaller.
（世界はますます狭くなってきています。）

（彼らはますます興奮してきた。）
まず「no more than 〜」ですが、これは「〜にすぎない」や「〜だけ」という意味で使うことができます。これは「only」と同じ意味になります。
There were no more than twenty people in the conference.
（「わずか」２０人しか会議に出席しませんでした。）
She did no more than smile at him.
（彼女は彼に微笑んだだけだった。）
I have no more than five dollars.
（私は５ドルしか持っていません。）
数詞に使うと「少なさ」を強調します。
そして「A is no more B than C is D.」のかたちにすると、「AがBでないのは、CがDでないのと同じです。」という意味になります。これは「AがBでない」ことを伝えるために「CがDでない」ことを例に出して説明するときに使われます。
A whale is no more a fish than a horse is.
（くじらが魚でないのは、馬が魚でないのと同じことです。）
I can no more play the piano than she can play the violin.
（私がピアノを弾けないのは、彼女がヴァイオリンを弾けないのと同じです。）
「more」のかわりに「less」を使うと、反対の意味で「CがDであるのと同じでAはBです。」になります。
She is no less pretty than her sister.
（彼女は妹と同様にかわいらしい。）
